Environment

The company recognises that its activities have an impact on the environment and is committed to improve its environmental performance and minimise the harmful effects through caring policies and effective management.

R J Leighfield & Sons also understand our obligations and responsibilities under current legislation and will identify and determine the environmental issues specific to each and every contract before producing an action plan.

One such way is the use of ConstructCO2, a web-based system designed to monitor and measure the carbon footprint of our building sites. This system enables us to organise our construction processes to minimise our carbon footprint.

Particular attention will also be given to:

  • Adopting sound environmental practices and where necessary training or encouraging suppliers to do the same

  • Considerate use of land under construction and development, with specific regard to archaeological finds, disposal of waste and the treatment of hazardous materials

  • Use and re-use of materials to reduce waste and wherever possible to use materials from sustainable sources

  • Control of all emissions during construction such as pollutants, dirt and noise

  • Energy conservation

  • Continual monitoring of activities during construction to ensure the environment remains on the agenda
