November 2010 - Leighfield's Attend LABC National Building Excellence Awards Night In London.

R J Leighfield & Sons, and their client Sovereign Housing Association, attended the 2010 Local Authority Building Control (LABC) National Building Excellence Awards Night at Brewery in the City of London. Both were in attendance to represent the Lea House project in Bradfield, Newbury.

Lea House was the LABC's finalist from the Central Region in the category of Best Community Project. The development, which included five apartments, a new post office and a village shop, also gained Secure By Design and EcoHomes certifications.

October 2010 - Pinewood School Opens New Science Block.

Pinewood School's new science block was officially opened by Baroness Greenfield. The two new laboratories and classroom block completed by Leighfield's have been used by pupils since the beginning of the year. The new facility allows Pinewood to develop it's "Science in the Community" initiative, whereby local schools are invited in for an afternoon of experiments and fun.

August 2010 - BCSW Wins Second Contract On Construction Framework South West.

As part of Builders Consortium South West (BCSW), Pearce Barnstaple have been awarded the contract to adapt and refurbish Welland House in Barnstaple to provide much needed accommodation for children with special needs and challenging behaviour.

Builders Consortium South West is a consortium of four SMEs namely R J Leighfield & Sons Ltd Swindon; E. R. Hemmings (Building) Ltd; Pearce Construction (Barnstaple) Ltd and C. S. Williams (Taunton) Ltd with an annual turnover in excess of £40 million and over 200 employees. The Framework will provide in excess of £500 million of work in the South West over the next 4 years.

With offices in Swindon, Barnstaple, Yate and Taunton BCSW provides construction services and solutions across the South West, and is a realistic, viable and locally based alternative to the major contractors.


July 2010 - R J Leighfield & Sons Ltd Finalists For LABC Award.

After recent successes at the LABC's Central Region Awards, R J Leighfield & Sons Ltd attended the Local Authority Building Control's West Region awards night and were finalists for the 'Best Social Housing Development'. The award for the Phelps Parade development in Calne, Wiltshire, was presented to R J Leighfield & Sons Ltd and their client Westlea Housing Association.

July 2010 - New Contract For 9 Bungalows Commences At Penhill, Swindon.

R J Leighfield & Sons Ltd have began a new contract for 9 bungalows at Penhill, Swindon for the Greensquare Group. Completion is due to be early 2011.


June 2010 - R J Leighfield Helps Westlea Housing Association Celebrate 7000th Property.

Westlea Housing has celebrated reaching a major milestone this week - the housing association, part of the Greensquare group, now has 7000 homes!

May 2010 - Lea House Development Wins LABC's 'Best Community Project' Award.

As well as a finalist in the Local Authority Building Control's Best Sustainable Project Award, the Lea House development at Bradfield, Newbury run by R J Leighfield & Sons, became the overall winner of the Central Region's Best Community Project Award. The development, which was built for Sovereign Housing Association and includes five apartments, a new post office and a village shop, will now go forward to the National Finals in November.
